~Wednesday, October 12, 2011- Mini Golf at Waltz Golf Farm

~Again by popular demand, we will begin the season with an activity at Waltz Golf Farm for an evening of mini-golf at the castle followed by some ice cream.
~Cost is $20.00 per person without transportation/$30.00 with transportation, and covers the cost of staffing, one game of golf, and ice cream afterwards.

~The following will be the transportation schedule:
           ~ Office- 6:00pm- 9:45pm
           ~K-mart in Sanatoga and Landis Store in Schwenksville- 6:30pm- 9:20pm
           ~Waltz Golf Farm- 6:50pm- 9:00pm


~Friday, October 14th to Sunday, October 16th, 2011- Weekend in Cape May

~ Come with us for a visit/respite weekend to the shore house in Cape May! For those who have not been there yet, it’s a handful of activities offered for the weekend… trip to the Cape May Lighthouse, Sunset Beach, The Cape May Zoo, shopping, Ocean City, Wildwood boardwalk and more… It will be a first call, first reserved basis. Cost per person will be $265.00 and will cover all meals, staffing, etc. Feel free to bring additional money for extra snacks/souvenirs, etc. We will meet at 6:00 pm at Helping Hands on Friday evening, and return on Sunday at approximately 7:00pm. Please pack clothing for being outdoors as we will likely go up to the boardwalk a bit.
~Space is limited, and will be booked on a first call, first reserved basis.

~Wednesday, October 19, 2011 - Fun at Pottstown Halloween Parade

~Come with us for an evening to see the local bands, businesses, boy/girl scout troops, fire companies, treats and fun at the Pottstown Halloween Parade!!!
~Dress warmly as this is an OUTDOOR activity. Feel free to bring a blanket as well. Cost for staffing and transportation will be $20.00 per person. Bring along spending money for snacks/souvenirs at the parade.

~We will run transportation with the following schedule:
             ~-Office- 5:30pm-10:15pm
             ~Landis Store in Schwenksville- 5:45pm- 10:00pm
             ~North End Shopping Center- 6:00pm- 9:45pm

~Thursday, October 20, 2011- SHOCKTOBERFEST in Sinking Spring

~Join us for an adventure to the Haunted Theme Park that they call SHOCKTOBERFEST in Sinking Spring, PA. We will be going through their Haunted Biohazard Hayride where “no one is safe on the wagon ride through 20 twisting acres of toxic wooded terror” And we will walk through their Prison of the Dead. Be among the first to experience this brand new haunted attraction. Come face to face with Man’s #1 fear: The Unknown. (Themed in Steampunk, a sub-genre of science fiction, this attraction incorporates over 20 years of industry experience, computer-controlled animatronics, light and sound effects and the best haunted house actors on the planet. Your journey into The Unknown begins with a 6-minute pre-show experience that will overwhelm your senses with surround sound audio, amazing 3D video, and lots of surprises. If you survive, you'll venture into The Unknown through a two-story stack of wooden shipping crates to learn what secrets hide inside. You'll encounter various fears and phobias, from claustrophobia and nyctophobia, to ophidiophobia and arachnophobia, to aquaphobia and pyrophobia, and much more. Your experiences will be, shall we say, augmented, through the use of advanced audio and 3D video technology.)
*NOTE: There are five steps into the hay wagon for the hayride, and the Prison will be mostly dark, and have strobe lights. And, this activity is NOT for the weak of heart!!
~Cost per person will be $44.00 for admissions/staffing/program fee/transportation.

~Saturday, October 22, 2011- Fruit picking at Frecon Orchards

~Join us for some fall fun in Boyertown!!! We will be going to Frecon Orchards and pick our own apples, pears, pumpkins! (and maybe some raspberries) followed by lunch out at the Chinese Buffet in Pottstown. “Every year we open our orchard to families and friends to get outside and reconnect with their food. People from all over visit the farm to enjoy a stroll through our orchard, hand-picking their next snack directly from the tree, bush, or vine. Varieties of cherries, apples, pears, pumpkins, and raspberries are all available as they ripen and there is no better way to get the freshest, highest quality fruit at the lowest prices.” Prices: Apples are $0.80 per pound and pumpkins are $0.45 per pound. Raspberries are $4.00 per pound (What's Picking Now?: Gala, McIntosh, Cortland, Jonathan apples are all available! Plus, Red bartlett, Bosc & Comice pears. Our raspberries have been working hard, but get here early to get first picking, they usually get picked through by mid day Saturday!)
~Cost per person is $30.00 with transportation. This covers lunch, and staffing. Bring along money that afternoon for fruit.

~Thursday October 27, 2011- The Great Pumpkin Carve

~Cooler temperatures and falling leaves can mean only one thing – it’s time to mark your calendars for The Great Pumpkin Carve. On Thursday, October 27th, the artists will begin carving huge pumpkins grown by H. G. Haskell and friends at S.I.W. Vegetables in Chadds Ford. At nightfall, the pumpkins are lit and the judges are ready to tackle the difficult job of choosing winners among 70 hauntingly carved masterpieces. So come join us for this spooky occasion!
~There will be lively music, hayrides, a small concession stand, and souvenirs. Cost per person is $35.00 which includes staffing, transportation, admission, and a hayride. Feel free to bring money for refreshments that evening.
~Please wear sturdy walking shoes and plenty of layers.  And, bring along a flashlight, if desired.

~Saturday, October 29, 2011- 31st annual Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire

~Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth I, invites you to live the excitement and adventure of the 31st annual Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Thirty-five acres of jousting knights and royal delights await as hundreds of colorfully-costumed characters breathe life into the mirth and merriment of an authentic recreation of a 16th century English Village complete with dozens of authentic Tudor buildings. Musical performances, magic acts, fire-breathing, puppet shows, Shakespearean plays, comical mud beggars and live jousting are just a few of the entertainments that fill the Revels Schedule with over 90 shows daily, unfolding on 12 stages. Enjoy period foods, micro-brewed ales and a variety of wines from 23 Royal Kitchens and shop from scores of Renaissance merchants. Experience the fantasy!!
~Cost per person will be $50.00 per person. This covers only the cost of admission to the Faire, staffing and transportation. Please bring additional money for lunch and souvenirs at the Faire. Remember that food/snacks are at least $10.00 for a drink and sandwich.
~Feel free to dress up in costumes that would be appropriate for the faire! This is an outdoor activity, and will involve a lot of walking, so please dress accordingly.
~We will again be attempting to save on the costs of gas for the large vans, and leaving from the office in Bechtelsville. We will be meeting at the Helping Hands office at 9:30am and returning at approximately 6:00pm.
